
The IV International Youth Forum of the BRICS Project Laboratory kicked off at MGIMO University on April 7, 2025. The Forum brought together more than 100 students and young researchers from 23 universities of the BRICS countries. Sergey A. Ryabkov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, BRICS Sherpa, took part in the opening of the Forum.
On April 9, 2025, the Forum hosted a round table BRICS in the Digital Age: Challenges and Opportunities.
Anatoly I. Smirnov, Aide to President of NAIIS and Professor of MGIMO University moderated the roundtable and presented, the NAIIS research paper Specifics of the BRICS Countries’ Policy in the Sphere of ICT Development, Ensuring National and International Information Security.
Ivan V. Surma, Head of Organizational Department of NAIIS presented his report Countering the Use of ICTs for Criminal Purposes in the BRICS Countries.
Other speakers made the following presentations: Andrey N. Svintsov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications On Legislative Support of Russia’s Technological Interests in BRICS, Natalia P. Romashkina, Head of the Information Security Division of the Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO) Artificial Intelligence in the Nuclear Sphere: Opportunities and Threats for the BRICS Countries, Irina N. Kokhtulina, Associate Professor of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Transformation of BRICS: Challenges and Prospects.
The experts’ reports provoked numerous questions from the forum participants and an interested discussion.
