On May 29, 2026, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a round of bilateral interagency consultations with Indonesia on information security.
The Russian delegation, led by Artur R. Lyukmanov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cooperation in Information Security and Director of the Department of International Information Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, also included representatives of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, NAIIS, and others. The Indonesian delegation was led by Mohammad Kurniadi Koba, Deputy Minister for Foreign Policy Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs.
NAIIS representative Gadzhi M. Akhmedov informed partners about the Association’s main activities as a non-governmental, non-profit organization established at the initiative of the Russian Security Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate the efforts of the state, business, and expert community in the field of international information security (IIS). NAIIS operates on «one and a half track,» which allows it to discuss sensitive international security issues in the digital age using both official diplomatic channels and a variety of non-governmental formats. The Association, confirming the continuity of its efforts within the UN, has received accreditation with the Global Mechanism for IIS, a successor to the UN Open-Ended Working Group, where it plans to promote initiatives led by Russia and friendly states.
Gadzhi M. Akhmedov drew the attention of Indonesian delegation to the Association’s status as the Russian Contact Point for scientific and academic cooperation in the field of IIS among BRICS countries and expressed its readiness to establish cooperation with a partner organization from Indonesia, both within the framework of BRICS contact points and bilaterally. The partners were particularly interested in NAIIS active involvement, through its operational wing, ANO KOMIB, in public-private partnerships in cybersecurity, primarily in terms of selecting relevant Russian companies for international projects, including training of IT/IS personnel.
The Indonesian colleagues were also invited to participate in the 20th International Forum «Partnership of State authorities, civil society and the business community in ensuring international information security,» which will be held in Moscow on September 22–24, 2026, in person and online.
