It was organized by the International Institute of the development of science cooperation (MIRNaS), the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Moskovsky Komsomolets Publishing House.

The discussion was moderated by MIRNAS President and MGIMO Professor Elena Ponomareva. Through informative presentations experts discussed key geopolitical processes. Andrey Yashlavsky, editor of the international department at MK, highlighted the situation in the Middle East and the standoff between the US and Israel against Iran. Alexander Stepanov, senior researcher at the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences, drew attention to the struggle for resources and influence in Latin America. Vladislav Vorotnikov, head of the Department of History and Politics of European and American Countries at MGIMO, drew conclusions about the development of European security against the backdrop of the Ukrainian conflict and Europe’s internal issues. Oleg Yanovsky, a lecturer in the Department of Political Theory at MGIMO, raised the issue of the subjectivity of modern Europe and decision-making mechanisms in Western countries. Participants of the panel discussion concluded that the world is undergoing a profound transformation with a redistribution of economic, technological, and political influence among leading centers of power. At the same time, the development of artificial intelligence technologies is becoming a new area of global competition.

During the general discussion, NAIIS expert Pavel Karasev emphasized that the ICT environment unites all regional areas of competition and that countering threats and challenges to international information security requires the use of interdisciplinary approaches. In this context, the participants were informed that IIS issues will be discussed at the 20th International Forum “Partnership of State authorities, Civil society and the Business community in ensuring International Information Security” and were invited to participate in the event.
