On May 29, at the invitation of the Commission for the Development of Higher Education and Science of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, Dr. Ekaterina A. Mikhailova, Head of the NAIIS Department, participated in a roundtable discussion “Formation of a Government Order for the Creation of a Sovereign Hardware Platform for High-Load Computing and Artificial Intelligence: Consolidating Scientific Groundwork, Industry Capabilities, and Government Support.”
The roundtable was attended by leading Russian microelectronics developers, representatives of the scientific community, and government officials. The participants were tasked with a highly specific objective: to develop a realistic roadmap for the creation of a sovereign hardware platform – a key factor in ensuring the technological independence and sovereignty of the state.
It was noted that Russia is one of the few countries with the technological, scientific, and human resource potential to address this historic challenge. The seminar demonstrated that high-level government officials not only understand the importance of creating a sovereign hardware platform, but are also prepared to play a consolidating role in coordinating the efforts of science and business to achieve this goal.
